Roman Mauger, a research fellow at the North-West University received his PhD in Law from the University of Montpellier on 8 September. He defended his thesis successfully.
His examination jury underlined that he was a "global researcher" because of the time he spent on his research in South Africa and at the North-West University. He was also praised for delivering papers at international conferences while writing his thesis. He and Dr Paola Villavicencio, a post-doctoral fellow of the North-West University organised a successful climate change week at the North-West University during October 2016. They received a prize for the best paper based on their experience of this week at an international conference in the United Kingdom. Romain has since been appointed as a researcher in Energy Law at the University of Groningen.
