Visa requirements: Most non-South African citizens wishing to enter South Africa must have a valid visa, which states the purpose and duration of the visit. It is important to note that the requirements for entry into South Africa differ from country to country, and can change at any time. Information can be found on the website of Home Affairs. Also consult the issuing authority in your home country for updated information.

Currency: The South African currency is ZAR (South African Rand). It is possible to withdraw money from most ATMs and credit cards are welcome everywhere.

Weather: The weather in April is still fairly warm with an average of 26 degrees Celsius. Nights could be a bit cooler, ranging between 9-14 degrees Celsius. It would be wise to bring something along if you are planning to be out in the open at night.

Telephone and Wi-Fi services: The international dialling code to South Africa is 00 27. Sim cards can often be obtained for free as you exit the arrival’s hall at the O R Tambo airport. The main mobile companies are Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C.

Guest Wi-Fi is available in most of the places on Campus and you will be supplied with the password after you have registered for the conference. It is also possible to log in with your Eduroam credentials.
