Allow the student to acquire knowledge of the South African legal system, private law, constitutional law and customary law. The subject groups Private Law, Public Law and Mercantile Law exist in order to assist in the academic administration of the programme. If you hold this degree, you can enrol for the LLB degree.

Compulsory courses in law, language and language skills PLUS
Choose one of the following majors that is taken on levels I – III:
- English;
- Industrial Psychology;
- Philosophy;
- Political Studies or
- Psychology.

Language of instruction on Home Language level passed on performance level 5 (60-69%) AND language of instruction on First Additional Language level passed on performance level 5 (60-69%).

Selection for BA (LAW) is done on the basis of academic achievement based on Gr 11 or Gr 12 marks as well as an aptitude assessment. The aptitude assessment includes a psychometric evaluation, personality, aptitude and other questionnaires as required for this field of study. This assessment is all Law students.
