Qualifications

Prof. Van der Linde holds an LLD in company law and an LLM in tax and corporate law from UNISA, as well as an LLB, B Juris (cum laude), and BAHons in Latin (cum laude) from the former Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education. She is also an advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa.

Background

A professor of corporate law and one of South Africa's foremost authorities in company and insolvency law, Prof. Van der Linde has served as acting executive dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Johannesburg from April 2024 to August 2025. She previously held the position of head of Department for Mercantile Law for two full terms and also served as head of the Department of Private Law.
